ABOUT EWB-NIGERIA

We believe engineers are problem solvers.  However, the skill necessary to be a successful engineer are always changing and encompass much more than technical knowledge.

Engineers need to adapt to new technologies and demands.  Employers are looking for engineers who can manage all aspects of large projects including scheduling, finance, and computer applications.  Engineers must be core effective team players and communication.

The engineer of the twenty first century will need the ability to:

·         Apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering;

·         Design and conduct experiments to analyze and interpret data;

·         Design systems to meet desired needs;

·         Function as a team member;

·         Identify and solve problems;

·         Understand ethical responsibility;

·         Communicate effectively;

·         Understand the global and societal impact of engineering;

 

·         Engage in life-long learning;

·         Understand contemporary issues

·         Use current engineering techniques and tools in their practice of engineering;

·         Multidisciplinary skills – including economics, history, the environment and customer and societal needs.

Engineers Without Borders – Nigeria is part of the network of Engineers Without Borders – International, and therefore a member as it provides a unique platform for its members, its affiliates and outside organizations, to:

·         Coordinate their efforts worldwide;

·         Collaborate on projects and studies;

·         Share ideas, experiences, and documentation;

·         Develop partnerships on community projects;

·         Address more global issues and projects;

·         Coordinate student exchanges, internships, and professional volunteers.

·         Advertise meetings and events;

·         Train and connect engineering professionals and students around the world;

·         Create synergy between their members.

The EWB-I network works in collaboration with various national and international groups affiliated with its member organization. Affiliates include:
